Aspect ratios
Pick a ratio to see its common resolutions, where it's used, and a calculator.
Which ratio should I use?
- 16:9 — the default for YouTube, TVs, and monitors; choose it for any standard horizontal video.
- 9:16 — full-screen vertical for TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and Stories.
- 4:5 — best for the Instagram feed; it takes more vertical space than a square without being cropped.
- 1:1 — square posts, avatars, and album art that need to crop predictably.
- 3:2 — native to most cameras and standard photo prints (4×6).
- 21:9 & 2.39:1 — ultrawide and cinematic looks for film and immersive displays.
